This is an original antique (late 19th century) 4 gallon Red Wing stoneware butter churn with salt glaze on the outside, Albany slip glaze on the inside, and bold cobalt rib cage decoration on the front. The churn has some damage but still displays beautifully. There are three hairlines from the top edge, one that branches into a crow's foot, one hairline on the bottom edge, a chip on the bottom edge near the back, and two tiny chips on the inner lip at the top.
