A small, decorated Stoneware Crock with primitive Cobalt Floral decoration, approximate 1-Gallon capacity, Northeastern US origin, ca. Wheel-thrown, squat cylindrical form with extra fancy tooled rim and applied lug handles.

Impressed below the rim with a cobalt-washed makers stamp reading: COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA. Their wares are highly sought-after by advanced collectors. See Internet for further information on the partnership. Front features a signature C&W Spitting Tulip decoration, artistically executed in bold Brushed Cobalt. In addition, each handle terminal is highlighted with dark blue cobalt.

Shiny, Salt-Glazed exterior; Albany or Mineral Slip interior. Condition : Rim and base with expected utilitarian wear, including some minor shallow flakes, as shown; otherwise Excellent with strong color.

Inherent glaze, surface and firing imperfections noted for descriptive accuracy. PA Stoneware enthusiast would be disappointed with this little Harrisburg Cake. No cracks, repaired damage or restoration work. See photos for complete details and close-ups.
