An impressive 19thC stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird decoration, 5-Gallon capacity, New York State origin, ca. Wheel-thrown cylindrical form with tooled rim and applied lug handles. 68 or Internet for further information on the maker(s). Front features a large Song Bird perched on a stylized sprig, executed in the boldest of Slip-Trailed Cobalt. Salt-Glazed exterior; Albany Slip interior. Condition : Base has three chips and a spider crack that extends partially up the left side, as shown. Rim with a short hairline (rear side).

Very strong color and uncommon 5-Gallon capacity; measures 12-3/4W x 12H overall with a base diameter of 12-1/4. The inner and outer rim diameters are 10-5/8 and 12-1/4, respectively.
