A large salt-glazed Stoneware Crock with A+ Cobalt Floral decoration, 5-Gallon capacity, Northeastern US origin, ca. Cylindrical, wheel-thrown form with tooled rim and applied lug handles. Impressed with a cobalt-washed makers stamp: J. NORTON / BENNINGTON VT with a capacity mark below.

See Internet for further information on the family-operated manufactory. Front features an exceptional Thistle Decoration, artistically executed in the boldest of Slip-Trailed Cobalt. So large, in fact, that the makers stamp had to be placed well left of center. The photos are probably the best description for this Keeper.

Condition : Professional surface restoration years ago back to Excellent overall condition. There are some tiny chips noted on the inner rim and a small glaze flake on the left handle, as shown.

Inherent glaze, surface and firing imperfections noted for descriptive accuracy. Displays brilliantly with fine color and decoration.
