Description : An exceptional Slip-Decorated Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, 5-Gallon capacity, New England origin, ca. Wheel-thrown, cylindrical form with tooled rim and applied lug handles. Impressed below the rim with a cobalt-washed stamp: F. And a capacity mark below. Front features a signature Norton Parrot perched on a stylized Floral Plume in dark, Slip-Trailed Cobalt. Salt-Glazed exterior; Albany Slip interior. Condition : This Crock survives in Excellent, essentially as-made condition with expected rim and base wear consistent with age and use. There are a few old chips noted on the inner rim, and some very faint, surface-only hairlines at the base (see close-ups). Typical surface, glaze and firing imperfections noted for complete descriptive accuracy.

Very clean inside and out; no repaired damage or restoration work. The decoration is very bold and well-proportioned with zero fry; one small glaze pop noted on the tail.

The inner and outer rim diameters are 10-3/4 and 12-1/2, respectively; this Worcester Parrot weighs 17.6 lbs!
