Wheel-thrown, Highly-Ovoid form with tooled shoulder, slightly-tapered rim with integrated inner ledge for a lid (not present), and applied lug handles.
Impressed below the rim with a cobalt-washed stamp reading: CHOLLAR DARBY & Co / CORTLAND. See Internet for further information. Decorated on the body with a Tulip-like Floral in Brushed Cobalt.
There is a freehand, brushed cobalt 3 capacity designation on the right. Gray, Salt-Glazed exterior, Mineral or Albany Slip interior. Condition : Very Good to Excellent overall with attractive form, size and decoration.
This Crown City Ovoid is nearly as wide as it is high! Minor imperfections are noted below.
Rim and inner ledge with expected wear from use, including glaze rubs and shallow chips, as shown. Base with wear and a few very small perimeter chips. Right handle has a glazed-over stone ping, in-the-making.No cracks, repaired damage or restoration work.
