Antique Stoneware Crock Jug SD Kellogg Whately Mass Salt Glazed Cobalt Blue
Up for sale is one spectacular jug. SD Kellogg of Whately, Massachusetts, 3 gallon. This makers work is scarce and very collectible.
This piece stands 16 tall, and is in wonderful condition. I see no cracks at all. Just a couple of tiny chips around the base. Which is amazing considering this piece dates back to the 1850s! The decoration features a pine tree, I think. The cobalt blue is very strong and pronounced. Birds and flowers are pretty standard for this maker. So to see a piece of his with a tree I think is extra special. Please check the pics over very carefully and feel very free to ask any questions. Note- theres a glare in the pics on the right side from a lamp, and on the left side from a window. I will double box it with no shortage of packing supplies and insure it properly.
