Offered here is a scarce, and highly collectible, 19th century, Early Catawba Valley, N. 2 gallon crock with a dark brown alkaline drip glaze. It has a "2" incised just below one of the handles.
There are no other identification marks. It has 2 rim chips which are visible in the photographs but don't detract from the appearance or utility.
There are no cracks or other damage to this piece. It stands approximately 12" tall and is approximately 8" in diameter at the widest point. A great old North Carolina piece! That's our asking price and the MOST you will have to pay for it. We will consider reasonable offers.
