Offered for sale is a salt glaze stoneware jar or crock originating in southeastern Pennsylvania mid-to-late 19th century. Common to stoneware of the time, the clay has burned more gray or more brown in parts depending on placement in the kiln in respect to the flame. It features a tooled lip and incised decoration circling the top.

Wire marks from potter's wheel removal are clearly visible. Ribbing is visible in the interior.

The one imperfection is a 1/2 inch chip at the outer rim as seen in the photo, but no cracks or other problems. The size is 8 1/4 inches high and 5 1/2 inches in diameter at the base. The item is guaranteed as described. I invite you to view other items I have listed. Thanks for looking, and enjoy the hunt.
