The unusual design of three x's on a banner might have indicated the contents were pure alcohol or perhaps poisonous on this two gallon stoneware jug made in the 1870's by the Hartford Ct firm Seymour and Bosworth. It has some staining (I've not tried to clean it) and a crack up the back which joins a 2 inch crack in the bottom. The crack appears to be solid and does not ring when rapped. The item "1870's Seymour and Bosworth Stoneware Jug with Rare Cobalt Blue Design" is in sale since Friday, June 30, 2017. This item is in the category "Antiques\Decorative Arts\Ceramics & Porcelain\Crocks".
