Pictured is a quite uncommon blue & white spongeware canister offered for sale, a shape & form not seen before. The two-toned storage crock has dense/mossy sponging & a slight ovoid body. It measures but 5 1/4" in height, 4 1/2".
In base diameter, & dates from 1880 - 1915. It's in immaculate condition with no nicks or damage whatsoever. A great addition to your "smalls" collection of spongeware... Note: I'm unsure if the original cover would have been sponged decorated, solid brown Albany slip glazed, or a combination. The recessed rim would accommodate a cover measuring 3 5/8" - 3 3/4" in diameter.
