3 Gallon Athen, NY Blue Decorated Stoneware Crock Dated 1893
Dated 1893 straight sided crock with lug handles. Floral design done with cobalt blue and 1893 date nearly hidden between the two blossoms on the front center. Stenciled and highlighted in blue is the potters mark Athens and below that POTERY.
The pottery mark is misspelled. A number 3 is also stenciled and highlighted in cobalt blue. The crock has two very shallow rim chips and a small rim chip on the inside. Overall in great condition with no cracks and no restoration. Measurements: 9 1/2 high, 11 1/4 diameter.
