A Very Nice Antique Cowden & Wilcox Harrisburg, PA Stoneware Crock Double Flower. Made by the John Wallace Cowden and Issac J. Nicely decorated 2 gallon stoneware jar, with a unusual motif for the Cowden & Wilcox manufactory.
2 drooping bell flowers and and a upturned floral leaf. The crock has nicely shaped ear form handles, and a good clear impression stamp mark, and capacity mark. The clay itself is very clean and clear. Some spots of the cobalt blue glaze fry, and wear/lesson the cobalt decoration. Thumbnail size chip on the side, and small chip on the inside rim.
Some chips on the base, probably from the kiln furniture during the firing process. We did not detect any cracks in the pot, it rings when tapped.11 1/4 tall, 8 1/2 across at the base. 7 1/2 across at the top.
