Antique L Norton & Son Stoneware Ovoid Crock Cobalt Flower Circa 1830 Bennington

  
For your consideration is this antique, 19th century, 2 gallon ovoid stoneware crock. It features a cobalt flower bud. It bears the maker mark of L Norton and Son. This is the mark of Luman Norton and his son, Julius, who worked together at the family pottery in Bennington, VT from 1833 to 1838 William Ketchum Jr. This is one of their earlier pieces bearing this mark as Bennington has been omitted from the stamp.

It stands about 12 inches tall, about 10 inches at its widest, 5 3/4 inches across the top and the base is about 5.5 inches across. This piece is in great condition. There are no cracks or repairs.

There is 2 small lip chips, a stone pop towards the back and some chips on the base. Very minor imperfections for a scarce mark.
