Description : A decorated Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral decorations, 1-Gallon capacity, Mid-Atlantic origin, possibly the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, ca. Wheel-thrown, squat cylindrical form with incised multi-line (5) shoulder, squared rim and applied Tab-Style handles.
There is an impressed 1 within a circle underneath one of the handles. Body features a continuous Swag with (2) PA Drooping Tulip decorations (one on each side), artistically executed in very bold Brushed Cobalt. In addition, each handle terminal is highlighted with dark blue cobalt. Interestingly, there is no Albany or Mineral Slip interior glaze on the interior of this Cake.
Condition : Rim, base and handles with minor utilitarian wear, including shallow chips, nicks and rubs, as shown; otherwise Very Good to Excellent with strong color. Inherent glaze, surface and firing imperfections noted for descriptive accuracy. See photos for complete details and close-ups.
