Molded, bulbous form with applied handle and strong cobalt accents throughout. One side is embossed: BOSTON THE HOME / OF THE BEAN. Reverse reads: SPIRIT OF 76 / BUNKER HILL. Highly-detailed shoulder and collar with correct, original and matching lid.
A true cross-collectible that will appeal to collectors of Antique Stoneware, Whites Utica Pottery or anything Beantown. Condition : Very Good to Excellent overall with strong color and desirable subject matter. The Bristol or Zinc-Glazed interior of the Pot has moderate crazing consistent with age and use (see close-ups).There is a small glaze flake on the body and a museum accession number on the pot base and underside of lid. No chips, cracks, repairs or restoration work. This is the largest-size Whites Boston Bean Pot: approximately 4-Quart (1-Gallon) filled to the upper shoulder. Measures 9-3/4W x 8-1/4H overall, including the lid and handle. The base, body and rim diameters measure 5-1/4, 8-1/2 and 5-1/4, respectively.
