Antique Stoneware Jar 6 Cobalt Stripes Freehand 2 Capacity 11+ crack shown

  

This Listing is for an Antique Stoneware Storage Canning Jar, 6 Squiggly Cobalt Stripes, and Freehand 2 Capacity. Possibly from Southwestern Pennsylvania and Dating around 1880, this Stone Jar has Great Cobalt Contrast.

The Stone Jar has a Tooled Rim Grooved for tying down a Paper or Cloth Cover This Crock measures 11 3/4th inches tall, but slopes to 11 1/2 inches, which is unusually tall for a Striper. Condition of the Storage/Canning Jar: One New Crack Beginning at the Front Rim and Running Down Through the 6th Stripe, a length of 7 1/2 inches. This recently acquired crack was created by my Grandson bouncing a Ball. To the right of the 2 is a 1/4" Stone Pop, and on the Capacity 2 is an 1/8" Stone Pop.

There is Use Slight Staining, as Viewed in the Photo Gallery. Between; Stripes 3 & 4 is a very tiny Stone Pop. See Photos #4 & #5 for condition of the glaze.

It looks as if a Previous Owner has painted the Surface, but I could not remove it with Stripper. There are very tiny Surface Glaze Cracks, but they do not go through the Crock.
