Antique early salt glazed stoneware 1 gallon jug marked E. Beautiful example of an early stoneware jug. The heavy salt glazed, 2 tone jug has slightly blurred lettering in a framed graphics box reading E.

SWASEY & CO, PORTLAND, ME. A" The "1 indicates that this 11 inch jug is the one gallon size. Swasey crocks and jugs were made since 1890 by Eben Swasey at his brick warehouse on Commercial St, downtown Portland, Me.. That brick factory still bears the company name.

No chips or cracks on this survivor. Has a fe cracls and imperfections shown in pictures. This is a very nice example of an everyday commercial jug that has survived for 130+ years. It measures 11 x 6.5 inches.
