A sweet jug dated 1870 with a slip blue decoration. The initials V & S most likely are for Vidvard & Son, a liquor distributor in the Utica, New York area. This excellent piece of salt glazed stoneware was probably made by Whites in their Utica pottery factory. It is in great condition with some fry in the blue, 2 small stone pops on the back side and a small chip at the base.
