Elliptical or Oval Shaped Antique Salt Glazed Stoneware Pickling Jar Maker Mark

  
Condition of item: Very Good Plus. What, I got here for your consideration is this antique, very heavy and thick salt glazed stoneware pickling jar or pot that has an unusal elliptical or eye shape pattern. The jars two end handles seem to be pitched back more than 90 degrees to prevent a slide off and has a slightly tapered design (see photo's).

On several of my photo's you'll notice on the bottom left hand corner area there is an embedded capital "Y" maker mark, which I can find no imformation on. And the intended usage of this piece is also, very sparse or vague as well. So, the origin and date remain a mystery to me along with it's intend use as well. So, if anyone would happen to know, anything about this fine piece of stoneware, would you or could you please, let me know or the best place to research it further would be helpfull as well? The condition here, other than the discoloring on the interior shows as excellent with some built up glazes on the outside bottoms edge yet, shows no physical damage, no chips or cracks at all on the entire surface area.

The bottom of this pot has no glazing on the surface area (see photo's). The measurements are as follows: 12 3/4" Height x 8 5/8" Width (on the bottom) x 6" Depth (on the bottom) x 6 5/8" Width (widest point just underneath the opening) x 4 3/8 Depth (widest point just underneather the opening as well).

The two handles protrude aprox. Weight on this vintage stoneware piece is about 9 pounds. Thank you, for looking at my other items I have For Sale in my store as well and for your consideration here!
