Folk Art Incised Presentation Crock A. E. R. Muskinghum Ohio OH Stoneware

  

Pictured is a small Albany slip glazed incised stoneware crock offered for sale. The folk art, presentation crock. Has a rich dark chocolate glaze & is incised on three (3) sides. The first three initials A.. Are the initials of the individual for whom the crock was made for.

The second set of initials A.. Were the potter's initials. And finally, on the backside, is a whimsical 3-D opened, lidded box. The cylindrical crock measures but 7 7/8" in height, 4 1/2" in base diameter, & dates from 1870 - 1885.

Excellent condition with no nicks, damage or repairs whatsoever. It was acquired in north central Ohio. Is attributed to Alfred Allens who potted in Muskinghum County, in southeastern Ohio.
