Pictured is an uncommonly decorated salt glazed stoneware preserve jar or canner. The container is highlighted with a dark brown glaze band near the base measuring 5/8 wide, along with the underside.
It has a great ovoid shape & form dating it to 1860 - 1885. It measures 8 1/2" in height & 4 1/4" in base diameter.
Amazingly, it's in excellent condition with no nicks, damage or repairs. The jar was obviously fired. Upside-down such that the excess glaze runs upwards.
