Very striking approximately 1 gallon J. Norton, Bennington VT stoneware jug. This jug features a very attractive sparrow-like bird on branch decoration. It was manufactured between 1850 and 1861 during the partnership of John and Edward Norton. The Norton pottery was known for making some of the most striking American pottery ever produced.

Overall in very good condition with great contrast. There are two shallow chips to the jug spout, and a few flea bites to the interior of the spout. There is one faint surface line to the base of the handle in the glaze only. 11.5" tall x 7" in diameter.
