However this crock is a fantastic cobalt blue color which is rare. A very unique piece with lots of character. It was made by the Western Stoneware Company of Monmouth, Illinois around 1920 Jim Martin and Bette Cooper, Monmouth-Western Stoneware, p. This butter crock came in 1 to 5 pound sizes.

This one is the 3 pound as indicated by the "3" impressed on the bottom of both the base and lid. The beauty has a Label Composed of a Fancy Cartouche Hosting "Butter" Inside.
