This item is called a chicken waterer or poultry fountain. It is hand fabricated stoneware with a lovely salt glaze. It has blue ink decoration on the front. The size looks to be about one gallon so the upper ink slash may be a numeral "1".
The dimensions are 11" high, 9" deep, and 7 wide. The condition is excellent overall, but note that there is a fine hairline crack visible on either side of the front cowl (bulge with drinking window) along the seam on each side where the cowl joins the jug proper.
The crack on the left seam (your left, as you face the front of the crock) is about 1 3/4 long, starting at the bottom and extending upward. On the right side it is about 3/4" long at the very bottom and continues onto the bottom for about 1/2". There is no flaking of the glaze from the edges of these cracks, so it appears the cracks are from the first firing before the glazing process.
There is no glaze on the bottom, of course. The cracks are extremely fine and I don't believe they represent any weakness in the crock. They are visible in the photos.
