XLG (1835 1865) Mocha Ware Yellow Ware Storage Pantry Crock Staffordshire

  
Pictured is a quite early yellow ware, mocha ware storage crock with handles offered for sale. The large utilitarian crock has a vibrant deep mustard, pumpkin coloration & great eye-appeal.

There are four (4) thin dark chocolate brown slip bands separated by thin white slip bands. The midsection is decorated with a wide 1 3/4 brown slip band, two thin white slip bands, & an irregular white chain link slip which wraps around the circumference.

The surface is slightly indented just below the rim & near the base. It measures 6 1/2" in height, 7 3/4" in diameter, & dates from 1835 - 1865. There are two (2) short 1 1/2 hairlines at the rim, one is a thru hairline, the other is on the interior side only, see pics. The exterior rim has several very small nicks, several are merely felt versus seen. A highly unusual storage container with great color, color contrast, & eye-appeal...
